I stay up pretty late working most nights so I generally get up around 10ish in the morning. Upon waking up, I usually have a wet nose pressed against my face just waiting for the first sign that I am awake so that he may begin barking to go outside. I get up and let my crew (dogs) outside. Once we come back in, I give out treats, morning medications (I have two oldies who need meds and sometimes the others have allergies), and kisses to everyone. After that is all taken care of, I usually fix a little breakfast and head back to my room where I eat and watch a few episodes of whatever I am watching on Netflix. (Lately, Orange is the New Black and The Ranch have been playing nonstop on my t.v.).
After that, it is time to get started working. I usually work on my internship activities for a few hours. The work is really harrowing (reading about animal abuse, watching abusive videos, etc.) so I take a break and make a list of the things that I will need to get done that day that are not internship related. I am going to be traveling soon for summer school so I have been slowly getting things together for my trip. I usually get ready and head out to pick up what I need. I also usually go grocery shopping to pick up whatever we will be eating for dinner. It has been raining here so much lately, that we haven’t been feeling too hot. Last night I made a turmeric, potato, carrot, and corn soup. It was fantastic and had us feeling so much better.
Once I get home, if it is a day that I am going to yoga, I generally visit with my mom for a while and head to yoga class. I try to ride my bike or walk to yoga for extra exercise. Sometimes, I get lazy and just drive to yoga. Lol. After yoga, I head on home, and get dinner started. After we eat and clean up, I take a bath and get started on more work. I work for hours on my internship tasks. This is where I burn the midnight oil and stay up til about 4:00 a.m. I know, I know, it is so late. I like it though, it’s quiet and I get a lot done. The dogs are asleep and it’s very peaceful.
After I finish working, I get a little snack, usually fruit or whatever vegan candy that I found earlier that day, and head to bed. I watch Netflix and get snuggled in with my pups and head off to dreamland. The next day it begins again.
On the weekends, I hang around with my friends here and there. One of my law school classmates, whom I have grown to love like a sister, came to see me and we went shopping a few weeks ago. I also see my best friend and her adorable new baby. Life has changed so much for the both of us over the years but when we see each other, it is like no time has passed. She is always in my heart. I hope to see her more really soon. During the weekends, I generally catch all the yoga classes I can and go to the farmers market. I like to buy fresh veggies and cook them during the week. There is something wonderful about taking something like a head of cabbage and making potato and cabbage soup, or fresh coleslaw. The garden that God has provided for us is amazing and bountiful!
Anyway, that’s typically how my days go for now. I know it will all change soon because I am about to be traveling to another state for summer classes. I am so excited for the adventure that awaits me. Please pray for safe travels and a smooth time for me. I’ll be posting again soon. Til’ next time…
