When I started law school, I bought a decent desktop for school work at home and a lap top so that I could take it to school. I’m one of those people that believes in having a desk top and a lap top. Anyway, my lap top was not the most expensive thing in the world. It was a Google Chromebook… and well it crapped out on me not long after I bought it but definitely when it was just out of warranty. It didn’t even support the program that my school uses for us to take our exams. It was a bust to say the least.
Knowing that I was going to have to get something else to take the bar exam on, I went to work checking out the best computers. I’m not really a fan of Apple. I grew up in the 90’s and got used to PC’s so I’m don’t like having to do things backwards as with Apples. I narrowed it down to two choices, the Lenovo Yoga and the HP Spectre.
When I first went to the store weeks before I purchased my computer, I loved the HP Spectre. It is visually appealing. Well, let me just say the machine is beautiful! It was sleek and is a dusted metal color called Dark Ash Silver with a shiny copper rim. It was also way out of my price range which was about $800. The Lenovo Yoga is also sleek with really nice and different hinges. The Yoga was also sleep and pretty. I’m not that “tech-y” so the way the computer looks is important to me. Girls just wanna feel fancy and fancy is exactly what the computer is that I decided on.
Ok, so I decided on the HP Spectre and I love it so far. As I mentioned before, it was initially out of my price rage but when I got to the store, It was on sale for a few days for $400 off the price so it fell just above my price range by $100. I figured I’d make an exception for myself this time and get it.
When I got home and took it out of the card board box, I was pleasantly surprised that the packaging was just as beautiful as the computer itself. The box was a matte dusted metal color with copper writing. As I went on unboxing my new computer, I discovered that it came with a sleeve for the computer as well as a stylus! (I told you it’s fancy! You can write on the touch screen just like paper). The stylus is sleek and is the same color as the computer.
Overall, after having used this computer for a little over a month now, I really do love it. It’s the perfect size. It weighs 4.4lbs, is 0.7” thin, and its screen is 15.5 inches. The display is clear and crisp. It has face recognition so you don’t have to type in your password every time you open it. I can just get to class, sit down, and start typing my notes. I’ve never owned such a fancy computer and I know I’m so blessed to have it. I’m also so relieved that I will have a reliable computer to take my bar exam. Who needs extra stress with computers when taking the blasted bar.
Anyway, I hope this helps some of you out there if you are considering purchasing a new lap top. Check out a few photos of the unboxing below. Til next time…

Stay Fabulous,
Law Girl.
