The newest and most exciting part of my life right now is hot yoga! I have done regular yoga on and off throughout the years but not really hot yoga. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my very first hot yoga class while I was in Canada a few years ago, ever since then, I have been hooked. When I came home, there was really no place at home that offered hot yoga, until now. I saw a little yoga studio pop up in my neighborhood a few weeks ago and decided to check it out. Come to find out, the girl who taught regular yoga at the gym I used to go to is one of the instructors there! This was so exciting for me because I love this girl! From the moment I met her, she breathed positivity into my life. Each yoga class that I went to, she was encouraging, kind, and so so positive about everything. I remember just wanting to be her friend because of how awesome her spirit was. She is not judgmental and never makes me feel bad for not being as “good” as others in the class. She always helps me out and tells me that it will come. I just cannot say enough good about this girl! It is very encouraging to know her and I am so grateful to have a new friend.
I was early for class a few days ago and she and I had a chance to chat for a while. I realized after a while, she is a person too! You know when you meet a person that is what you want to be, you just idolize them. She is perfectly fit, perfect at yoga, super positive, kind, etc. I want to be all those things. It was comforting to know that she is down-to-earth and not really much different than me. Still, I at least want to be as fit as she is! lol
Anyway, I have been going to this studio and it is fabulous! The studio is small and has great atmosphere. It’s very peaceful and so perfect. The studio is heated to approximately 95 degrees by heat panels that are suspended from the ceiling. The classes are challenging and you sweat A LOT but at the end you leave feeling invigorated and wonderful, not only in your body but in your soul as well. In the last few minutes of class, the instructor places a frozen towel that has been soaked in eucalyptus oil on your head and it is literally the most amazing thing in the world! All of your senses come alive and a wonderful sense of gratitude comes over you. I love it so much! I want yoga to always be a part of my life. Even though it has not been long since I have been going consistently, yoga is now woven into the fabric of my life in a way that is unexplainable. It is my peace, my religion. It makes me better…
International Day of Yoga was earlier this week and in celebration, I attended a 5:30 a.m. class and then I went again at 5:30 p.m. Twice in one day! At the evening class, there was a local musician playing yoga music. It was so awesome! I am so grateful for the morning classes. Nothing is better than welcoming the day while doing yoga. The sun came up and it was like it was greeting us in our practice. I definitely recommend that you guys try it out at least once. You will be hooked.
Ok so, if you have been regularly following this blog, you will know that I am working as a legal blog writer for an attorney. I got really great feedback from my boss on my first article! There is a maximum amount that I am paid per article and if the article is good then I get the full amount; however depending on the amount of corrections or problems with it, I would be paid less. For my first article, I got the full payment and my boss said that it was a great piece, that I did a good job breaking down the legal issue for the reader, and that he was excited to read more of my work! I am still ecstatic about this!
Also, I’m pretty excited about my second article. This one was about dog bite laws. I just feel so lucky to have been able to write that one. Not only did I get paid the full amount, I learned a lot about the law that will be super beneficial in the future! I researched a lot! I really slaved over that article. I got carried away with it and it ended up being really long but it was great! I even included tips for dog owners and the general public to protect themselves from litigation. Ultimately, I wanted to write it in a way that advocated for dogs rather than blaming them and I feel like I achieved that. For the record, I have never gotten paid less than the full payment amount which makes me feel so good. I always doubt myself so it’s good know that I’m doing well.
My internship is going really well too! As you might remember, I am working to protect sharks. I cannot say much about it because it is confidential. I did finish with my first project and have submitted it. I am getting started on a new project which is very exciting and will bring so much justice to the animals. Additionally, I have started kind of a side project that my boss and I have discussed. It’s taking longer than I had expected but it doesn’t matter, it’s for the animals and I love the animals! They deserve justice and I will do whatever is needed for them. I am forever their voice.
Other than that, my summer has been going really well so far. It’s really nice to be out of school, to have a normal life, and to be relatively stress free. I am getting to do all kinds of fun things that I never get to do in school. I go out to eat, go shopping, watch all of my favorite shows (and some new ones), cook, and play with my dogs. We even have little adventures! My mom and I took my pups to a state park a few weeks ago. We saw a beautiful little deer, a wild rabbit, and a baby racoon. We ate candy and chips in the car, drank soda, and just had a great time laughing! I also have been getting to see my friends. My very best friend had her gender reveal party and she is having a baby girl! I am going to be an auntie to a precious little baby girl and I can’t wait!
I know some of these things don’t seem like much but to me they are. During the semester, I don’t have the time for anything so I appreciate it all so much now. There were so many times that I missed out on everyday life because of school work and it was really hard and depressing. I am just trying to take in the normal life as much as I can because before I know it, I’ll be back in the books.
Lastly, we are still deciding where we want to go for vacation. We will be taking a little road trip before school starts like we did last year. It will be a time of rest and relaxation before the the hustle of law school starts again. Also, I am still holding onto “the secret” a bit longer, basically because I have not made up my mind about it yet. I don’t mean to keep everyone in suspense. I will let you all know when I can, after I have made up my mind.
Anyway, I will end this blog here. I will be taking my mom for a little procedure in the morning (prayers please), so I have go to get to bed. I will post again soon. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for updates on life, law, and everything in between.
XOXO
Stay Fabulous,
LawGirl.
