This week at school was pretty good! Somehow, I found strength to do the majority of my work and go to school after only a few hours of sleep. Most nights I would work until about midnight. Some nights though, I worked until 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. There are so many cases to brief for each class and each professor expects them to be done, no excuses whatsoever. You are not allowed to come in if you are late either, so I leave for class 2-3 hours in advance since I have a long commute.
Ok, so school work is school work. Not much to say except, I do it constantly and I even dream about the people in my cases when I finally do go to sleep. LOL There are a few things that have happened this week that are worth talking about.
The people I have met at school have been so great! I am in a study group with some of these awesome people. Everyone is so nice and is willing to help you up if you are having trouble understanding. I love hearing the amazing accomplishments of others. Some of my classmates have had extraordinary lives and done amazing things.
School is all work and I am told by other students that you have to take small amounts of time for yourself here and there or you will get burned out. So, I did take a little time away from my busy schedule this week so I could have a little fun. I got to go to an event this week that a local shelter held. It was called Yoga with Cats! It was held at a local Christian church and it was basically that! You got to do yoga and the little adoptable cats walked around and played! It was probably the most adorable thing I have seen in a while. I normally do enjoy yoga but I didn't do much yoga. It was basically me sitting on a yoga mat kissing kittens. It definitely took the edge off of the the law school stress. Also, the pastors of the church were really wonderful. I made new friends in them for sure.
There is one friend who I met at orientation who I instantly clicked with. We have the same sassy personality. Her mentor is Persian, like me, and she wanted to take my new friend and I to lunch Friday, which was today. I was excited about it all week. When I got out of class, they were waiting for me. The lady was one of the most lovely people I have ever met! So distinguished and sweet. She took us to a restaurant that is about 10 minutes from our law school. It was just a nice time. We ate and shared stories and laughed a lot. It turns out that my hairdresser, who is also Persian, is one of her good friends. The food was so yummy too! She said for my friend and I to come and see her anytime. She works for the university and her office is nearby! She said something to me that was amazing because it is always how I feel when looking at animals. She said that when she looks at an animals eyes, she sees that they are talking to her. AMAZING! She can see that they are another soul, another beating heart. It was refreshing to hear someone say the thing I have felt my whole life about our animals.
After that I had to take care of a few things at school and I headed home. I have been making weekend schedules for myself to keep myself on track for the assignments that need to be done. I took a "nap" from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and then I got started briefing cases. It's now almost 10:00 a.m. and I have almost finished the work for one class... Like I said, it's a lot of work.
I do want to mention a few things from last week that I forgot in the last blog. On the first day of orientation, I got a shout out on my favorite radio show for my first day of law school which completely made my day. The guys on the show had a whole conversation about my going to law school. It was hilarious! Also, my best friend checked on me, texted me, gave advice, asked if I needed help, etc the entire first two weeks of school. It meant the world to me to know that she was on my side and in my corner during that period of time because it was crazzzzzy for me. So, to my best friend, I love you! I am following in some really great foot steps! :)
Lastly, I applied for a $1,000.00 book scholarship and I got it! I am so excited! My books cost me over $1,000.00 and this will help me so much! I am blessed beyond belief. God has totally answered my prayers. I pray everyday that he continues to bless me and gives me the strength to get through law school.
Anyway, I want to go to bed for a few hours so I can get up and continue working. Thanks for all the encouragement from everyone. It has meant a lot. Until next week...
XOXO
Stay Fabulous,
LawGirl.
