First, I have decided to take my vacation from work June 22-June 26. It will mostly be a "staycation" so that I can finish getting my place cleaned up and organized before law school. However, that weekend I will be traveling to Texas to attend a 1L prep weekend offered by one of the law schools in Texas. I am so excited about this since I will not be able to attend the one that is given at my school. My school is offering a free six week prep to admitted students. All meals are provided as well as housing accommodations. Perfect right?! I can't go because I have to hold on to my job until school starts. This whole being an adult thing is not fun sometimes. lol Anyway, it will be a fun and educational weekend. I am also looking forward to going to Ikea that weekend to get a few things to put the finishing touches on my study/desk area!
Next, I have been invited to an event at my school which is a series of presentations about the legal life and legal profession. I am beyond excited to be invited and am looking forward to networking with faculty, students, and presenters at my school. They will also be serving lunch again (see previous blogs). Maybe food helps in this profession! HAHA!
Lastly, the things that I am most looking forward to are vacation and the little party I am having as I bid farewell to my social life! My dad has graciously offered to host this little party at his home. It will just be friends and family eating and hanging out before I never see any of you again... well until Christmas that is. We are doing this the last weekend before school starts.
The day after the kick back, my mom and I will be packing up the tiny, two-door Honda, and taking another road trip with those four furry faces. She saw a show on TV about odd buildings. There are buildings shaped like ducks, dogs, shoes (ooou my fav), and a mammie doll. We have decided to go and check out the mammie doll in Mississippi and any other thing we find along the way. This road trip won't be as far as our previous trip to Seattle but it will be fun! I am so excited to have this time to have fun before school starts!
Other than all of this planning, things have been relatively ho hum. I have just been working and cleaning my house. I have not been feeling well. I have a cough that just won't go away. Hello summer cold, which is the worst.
Yesterday my mom and I went to the local farmers market and got these amazing cakes that we will be having in the evenings with our tea. I have been trying to enjoy the small things which somehow, are really big things.
Also, a new thing that has become part of my daily activities is learning a new language. I have been doing a few lessons each night before bed with the help of Rosetta Stone! I think it will take about 40 hours to be fluent. I have had the set for a while now and would stop and start. I promised myself I would make time for this and stick to it after the law school application process was complete. I know I won't have any other time for it once school starts. You never know, future blogs just might be... um... international. LOL.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I'll be sending out invites to the kick back soon and will be posting about all of these things as they happen.
XOXO
Stay Fabulous,
LawGirl.
