When I was hired, I didn't know I was going to get into law school. I still needed a job because let's face it, the bills still keep coming and they won't pay themselves. I was asked in the interview if I planned to stay "long term" which is subjective anyway. I did plan to stay "long term" but my circumstances changed. I had no idea what the future held, Now, the future holds LAW SCHOOL! I just don't know what to say to them or how they will react. I for sure will give a two week notice. I am just dreading the awkward "I'm going to law school" conversation.
I found out a week ago when the first day of school is. I decided I want a week "off" between work and school. So, this will put me telling them on July 22. It just keeps getting closer and closer. I can't believe I'm quitting in a month and a half. Orientation starts on August 13 and lasts until the 15th and school starts the next week.
I'm sure it won't be as bad as I think it is. I am just nervous about it. I don't want to burn any bridges and I want to keep the door open with this company. Plus, in three years when I am going to take the Bar, I think that there is some kind of character and fitness form that is sent to all of your employers for the last ten years. I just need to figure out what I am going to say and say it in the most professional way possible.
Oh well, I have a few weeks before I get to have this conversation. I just thought I'd post about one of the things that is stressing me out at the moment. I want everyone to know the good and exciting things as well as the not so exciting things about my journey. I'll keep everyone posted in a future blog on how it goes with this.
