The dreaded "I'm quitting to go to law school" conversation has taken place and is now in my past! It turned out that they accepted the news surprisingly well. They were happy for me and wished me well. I asked HR to let me tell the VP of the company myself since he and I have a sort of friendship. I wanted him to hear it from me. I let him know this morning. He looked so sad. His normally light blue eyes turned dark blue and this look washed over his face that just broke my heart. It's bittersweet for sure...
I saw them interviewing people for my position and for some reason it tugged at my heart strings. I'm leaving a job that most people would love to have and just jumping. Jumping out into the unknown. I guess I have to jump if I want to fly. It's just so scary. My life is changing really fast and pretty soon the first day of school will be upon me.
Friday was such an emotional day for me. I gave my two week notice and after work I went to buy my computer. I wanted to cry pretty much the whole day. I was not expecting those feelings. Everything is starting to feel real now. I got my booklist today and there is a girl who will sell me most of the books I need for $200.00, which is amazing for law school books. Sometimes they cost $1000.00.
I did order a filing cart from Ikea and a desk chair from Wal*Mart. I also ordered a rolling computer bag from Amazon. I know everyone says that rolling bags are not "in" but I cannot carry all those books around on my arm or on my back. They are huge and there is a lot of them. Luckily, the bag is really cute and I can hide the wheels and handle if I need to.
This past weekend I went shopping in the town where my school is. It was a beautiful day and it was a nice change of pace. It gave me time to just be a little carefree, even if only for the day. There is a Trader Joe's there and I love to shop there. They are so affordable and you can get healthy things that are different and really good. I also got to check out Home Goods for the first time. It's such a nice store but they were kind of expensive. I did get a few things for school and for the house. Overall it was a good day.
Lastly, I got really great feedback from some of the attorneys that I contacted last week. (I wrote about it in my last blog). One of them wants me to send him my resume so that he may keep a profile on me and may have a position/internship available in the future! Another attorney asked that I e-mail her back in two weeks so that we may talk then. She was so nice and gave tips in the meantime. I'm so excited that I have made good contacts and have opportunities to look forward too.
Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone on the "conversation" and about the awesome feedback I have received. I will be having the kick-back (previous blog) on August, 8th. I will be getting all of that together soon and will update. Thank you to everyone for all the prayers and words of wisdom. Your love and kindness has meant so much to me and I will never forget it. Until next time...
XOXO
Stay Fabulous,
LawGirl.
